Sake festival in Saijo is coming up! Saijo is one of the big three Sake breweries in Japan as well as Nada(Hyogo) and Fushimi(Kyoto).

You can taste like 900 kinds of Sake from all over Japan, if you buy one day ticket for admission. It means...yeah...limitless sake tasting...

Plase Be careful not to drink too much!

You can get to Saijo by JR Sanyo line in less than an hour from Hiroshima HANA Hostel.

Peace memorial ceremony

The ceremony is held in front of the Memorial Cenotaph in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park with many citizens including the families of the deceased and the people from all over the world.

WHEN : August 6th. 8:00-8:50

Admission : FREE

There is also a Film [ THE BACK OF DESTINY ] will be shown at the International conference centre Hiroshima(next to peace memorial museum) from 15:30 - 16:10 on the 6th August. Admission fee is free.
The story tells you about a couple who lived and survived from an atomic bombing.
English subtitle.

Take a tram(#2 or 6 ) from Hiroshima station.
Get off at Genbaku dorm mae station which is in front of A-bomb dorm.

The poetic charm of cormorant fishing is an integral activity of early summer.

Jan 17 (Sun)Tea that brings people happiness!?

In Japan,there is tea that brings people happiness. It is called "Oobuku-cha" .The word "Oobuku",meaning "Big Happy" and "cha",meaning "tea". Oobuku-cha is drunk at the new years as a lucky tea.

At Syukkeien Garden(Hiroshima city),they will have a Oobuku-cha ceremony on 17th of January.Why don't you drink "Big Happy Tea"? The happy tea will warm you up and bring you happiness!!

Sandan-kyo

I visited Sandan-kyo to see the waterfall.

Sandan-kyo is famous for waterfall and for the beautiful colored leaves,

so a lot of people visit here in the autumn.

To see the waterfall, you need to take a boat.
The water is so clear that you can even see 7 meters below!!

Through the rock...

Here is the waterfall.

This waterfall used to be a 2 step waterfall.
Because of the landslides, it changed to 1 step.


To get to this place, you can take the bus from Hiroshima Bus Center.
It takes about 2 hours by local line bus
and the fare is 1200yen.

" HANABI "

Hello!

Fireworks displays are held all over Japan in the summer (well not only summer).
We call fireworks " HANABI ".


There will be a firework display tomorrow at Kure which is 40mins. from
Hiroshima station. They will shoot off the fireworks over the sea.


Also, there will be another big firework display at Miyajima on the 14th of August.
This is an under water fireworks.


You can also enjoy fireworks at home. There're many kinds of fireworks
in Japan. They sell it everywhere in the summer time.

But be careful!!

Cherry blossoms in Iwakuni Kintai-kyo

Hi, this is Kumi!
This is my first time posting in this blog.

Today I want to introduce every about a place called Kintai-kyo in Iwakuni.
Iwakuni is one of a big city in Yamaguchi prefecture. You can get there by
JR train from Hiroshima sta. to Iwakuni sta. and take a bus.

This place is nice to see at all times of the year.
Now is the season to see SAKURA the cherry blossoms.

Yesterday I went there with my friend. It wasn't blown 100% but
it was really nice!
