 Its middle of rain season in Japan right now, but once its over we are ready to have SUMMER!!

One of best part of summer is Fireworks!!  We do fireworks at home with family, also we go to Fireworks festival, too. Because fireworks are a true symbol of summer in Japan. Japanese fireworks feature bright colors and beautiful shapes when bursting overhead.

In Hiroshima, Hiroshima Port Dream Fireworks Festival is held in July, when approximately 10,000 fireworks are set off. Various types of fireworks can be enjoyed, including lovely katamono (pattern-shaped) fireworks, such as squids, crabs, octopus and fish, and offshore Starmine fireworks, which form fan shapes like peacocks spreading their wings.

The fireworks are displayed against the ocean and mountains in a refreshing sea breeze and the salt tang of the sea. Enjoy the “fantastic story” unfolded on a stage unique to Hiroshima, which is located along the Seto Inland Sea.

Also there will be many of  stalls along the street, so enjoy fireworks viewing with Japanese old-style food and cold beer !!

There will be more than 400,000 participants expected, so get ready for all those crazy traffic !!

Mibu nno hanadaue A rice-planting event　in Hiroshima (Chiyoda) hanadaue is a With the musical accompaniment of a band and 15 head of decorative cattle, preparations are made for rice planting as they were long, long ago. It's getting hotter and humid in Hiroshima these days.. Summer is on its way for sure! Before starting Summer, One of the three biggest festivals in Hiroshima will be held in early June!

☆☆TOUKASAN FESTIVAL ☆☆

Toukasan is the summer festival for the god of Touka Daimyoujin at Enryuji temple in Hiroshima city.

The festival is also known as the Yukata Festival.  Yukata is like a summer robe.
People in Hiroshima are supposed to begin wearing it from this day on.

During the three days of the festival, hundreds of street stalls with games and snack foods appear along Chuo Dori Avenue

 

Mean while, there is a parade of cheerful Bon-dance dancers preceding the coming of summertime.

Today the Toukasan Festival is recognised as a seasonal event to let people know of the arrival of summer. The atendance throughout the festival depends on the weather, but averages as many as 450,000 every year!!
